we prioritize the creative process  restoration and knowledge exchange over productivity

High frequency residency aims to support artists developmental phases of work, including  experimentation, research, and rest. We prioritize the creative process, restoration and knowledge exchange over productivity. Therefore, there is no obligation to present work at the end of residency. Our focus is on fostering a meaningful and slower way of engaging with creative processes and the environment, alongside one another.

Anchor 1

Perhaps there is a practice you wish to explore that has never aligned with a project context or has been lost amidst the rush of fast-paced days. Or maybe you simply want to continue your research or reset entirely. This residency offers the space and time to do so.

The central focus of this residency is on how we nourish and restore our energetic bodies—granting them moments of pause, silence, or joyful connection while being in harmony with nature.  Everything in the universe has its own frequency, and we as human beings are also composed of vibrational frequencies that extend beyond the physical, shaping our experiences and connections. By consciously tuning in to the frequencies within and around us, we can positively impact our well-being and that of the planet. Through food, words, practices, rest, communication, breathing, creativity we shape our energetic bodies. We work to offer artists a gentle space to rest, contemplate, reflect, and restore these energetic dimensions of themselves.

Being in and staying connected with nature is an essential practice for restoring our sense of wholeness and belonging—a vital reminder that we are part of a larger, interconnected living system.

Nestled amidst meadows, fields, and forests, the residency is located in the heart of Gauja National Park. This beautifully renovated family home sits on a sprawling 70-hectare estate, with the peaceful Līgatne River flowing through the property. Originally built over a century ago as an animal barn, the house has been meticulously restored to retain its historical character while offering modern comforts.

The property holds a rich and varied history. Before the war, it was home to Latvian elites, and later, it was inhabited by a botanist who cultivated a lush garden that still produces berries and fruits today. The renovation, completed in 2021, was guided by a commitment to preserving the original structure and the timeworn materials that survived both war and the passage of time. Today, the home is a light-filled sanctuary, thoughtfully designed with natural materials and contemporary amenities.

The estate offers an inviting space for gatherings and moments of retreat. It features a swimming pool, a charming sauna (local pirts) house with an ice bath, and spacious indoor and outdoor areas for dining, relaxation, and connection. This home is a place where cherished memories are made, surrounded by the serenity of nature and the whispers of its storied past.

Residents are provided with a creative space* and optional curatorial consultations. Residency programme 2025 begins with an introductory talk by the curator and a workshop led by a transdisciplinary practitioner to help participants transition from their everyday routines into the residency environment.

During the residency, participants are encouraged to reflect on their experiences and practices by presenting a short workshop or talk to fellow residents. This fosters knowledge exchange and warm, collaborative communication within the group.

The residency will take place over 5–7 days in July 2025.  We provide our infrastructure, food and options to cover some travel costs. Per diems may also be included, depending on the resident’s country of origin and available grant funding (we are actively working on establishing a financial foundation). Additionally, we can provide letters of recommendation to support residents in securing funding for future projects, if needed.

Please note that this will be the first iteration of the residency. While we will do our utmost to create a beautiful and peaceful space, your feedback will be invaluable as we continue to grow and improve.
